Big Trouble in Little China

Event Date: July 26, 2019, 8 p.m.

Our third installment of Friday Flix in Mother's Backyard is John Carpenter's 1986 box-office-dud-turned-cult-classic, Big Trouble in Little China

In 1986, John Carpenter turned his vision from the slasher horror of Halloween and the sci-fi splatter of The Thing to the comic kung-fu action of Big Trouble in Little China. You can say the result is a over-the-top, maximalist mess of very-80s special effects and set pieces. Or you can say it's a campy, goofy satire on American action movie tropes. What you can't say is that it's boring. According to one of the taglines from its original release: A Mystical, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Kung Fu, Monster, Ghost Story!  Finally, a film with something for everyone!

It's all in the reflexes!

Rated PG-13 (mind you, that's a 1986 PG-13). All ages welcome!

Admission is $6 at the gate, with proceeds supporting our partner Moxie Cinema
