Just in time for Halloween, your Mother's is bringing you the next installment of "The Thing 1 Thing 2 Thing." This time around, we thought we'd play with the season and create something extra special for you! You'll be able to find, Thing 1 Thing 2 Thing 3.0 around town (Springfield and Joplin, MO) at Patton Alley Pub, Galloway Station, University Plaza, Skinny Slims, Coffee Ethic, Finnegan's Wake, Blackthorn and Mother's Tasting Room. THING 1

RUM BARREL CHOCOLATE PUMPKIN PORTER (Say that three times fast)

THING 1 is a medium to full-bodied beautiful beer. We roasted locally sourced pie pumpkins and butternut squash, then combined them with the right amount of pumpkin pie spice and cocoa nibs and added this messy goodness to a strong porter to age. The added component of Copper Run Rum soaked oak chips and spirals adds an element of booze, mild vanilla and just a wee bit of tannin.

THING 2

SMOKED BALTIC PORTER

THING 2 is medium to full-bodied and in direct opposition to the modern flavor combinations in THING 1. We have gone back to the old world for this edition of THING 2: a baltic porter. Baltic porters are rich creamy strong black lagers from the northernmost reaches of Europe. Creamy and chocolatey malt character dominates this beer. Modest smoke aroma and flavor as well as some plum and berry flavors play a supporting role.
